Bangers are a punk band from Cornwall, which is kind of appropriate because Rip It Up seems to be doing a virtual road trip of the South West and Wales. After Exeter [The Cut Ups] and Swansea [The Arteries], the only logical place to go is south and west. And when we get there, we find a band with all the energy, anger and vitality of the kind of bands that used to blast forth from our stone-age record players back in the day. Yep, these guys bring to mind the halcyon days of shrink-wrapped US imports, hastily photocopied-by-the-drummer’s-girlfriend-in-her-office lyric sheets, and the kind of great rude sincerity that stands proudly, flicking V’s at the miserable Simon Cowell and all his awful ilk.
Their discography is not currently vast, but I implore you to go to their bandcamp page and buy their album for whatever you can afford – and then go and see them live. Yes, now! Here – take my car!
